Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established.

Proverbs 4:26

From the time we learn to walk our feet are taking us everywhere.

Once you started walking your earthly parents tried to show you the safe path.  They taught you how to use your feet to lead you away from dangerous situations.   And if you found yourself in a bad situation your feet would run into the comforting arms of your parents.

As a toddler you are learning how to use these amazing tools of transportation given to you by God.   With this gift of “transportation” comes great responsibility.  Our feet can take us anywhere.  We can choose to enter a danger area or avoid it and go to a safer place.

In the Christian walk our feet are also of great importance.  Our feet can get stuck in the world, as sometimes it looks like the easy path. Our feet could be that difference between stepping into a place that will cause us to sin against God, or to walk toward His gifts of love, grace and mercy.

Your feet can also be the source of great comfort by leading us to a place of safety in God’s arms.  Like a child, when we let our feet lead us away from God we run back to Him with the knowledge that He will be waiting with His arms wide open.

Use your feet as a good tool in your walk with God.  Do not let them wander or stay in the world but let them lead you to the path that is pleasing to God.

My steps have held fast to Your paths.  My feet have not slipped.

Psalm 17:5

Be Still

Be still and know that I am God

Psalms 46:10

I am amazed and grateful for where I live.  Having lived most of my life in the “Big City”, my quiet home has given me the appreciation for what God has asked us to do.  “Be Still”

How many of us feel busy from the time we wake up in the morning until our head hits the pillow at night?  When do you have time for just you, let alone time for just God?

It seems that we all have conformed to the busy-ness of this life.  We get up in the morning and start taking care of things.  Feed the family, get everyone off to work or school, come home from your own job and do whatever is necessary to keep our lives flowing smoothly.

Even when we do have time to relax, our minds really do not stop.  We watch tv, check our social media pages, or maybe even get to read a book.  Stillness rarely ever comes.

If you were to stop everything you were doing right now and try to be completely still how long could you keep your mind from thinking on things of this world?  5 minutes?  2 minutes?  Try it.  Ask God to keep your mind at peace and spend time with Him.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee

Isaiah 26:3

With a Listening Ear,

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 12:2

One of my favorite times is the starting of a new year, looking back on what the previous year gave and looking forward to renewing all that I have to be grateful for.  As I look back on the year that passed I try to find areas in my life where I could have handled situations a little differently or where I have learned from decisions that were made, both good and bad.  Here is the confession time … every year the same questions come up and answering them honestly usually means a renewal in my commitment to God.

These are some of the questions I always ask myself:

Did I spend enough time talking to God and reading His word?

Did I encourage and pray enough for my family and friends?

Did I pray for my enemy?

Have I shared God with someone?  Or many someones?

Is my life reflecting Jesus to everyone I meet?

If we answer these questions honestly we usually find that our lives tend to get so consumed with everyday life that we have to answer no to most of them.

I challenge all of us to start this year spending time with God by reading the Bible and talking to Him daily.  This will give you a renewal in your relationship with Him and a happiness to follow you all year.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

God's Blessings for a Renewed New Year,

Are we the humble men God asks us to be?

In many scriptures, God starts out, "If My people will humble themselves...".  Yet so many times we skip right passed that part to get to His promises.  We ignore our need to self- evaluate ,with His help , to know if we are following His directions. The " If-Then" portion of His promises tell us that if we follow His directions, then He will give us His blessings.  If we don't do our "If" part we have wasted an opportunity to serve Him and receive His blessings.  For all that He provides for us, He really asks very little in return.  For all that He did and all that He continues to do, for us, we should be bold in accepting His opportunities to serve Him.  And always remember, " In all things, seek ye first the Kingdom of God", for He has the perfect plan for us, and His timing is always perfect.  Proceeding with our will is usually our downfall and an example of our arrogance and pride.  So seek Him, listen for His directions, and be humble in your actions.
